Amos Ben Meir

President

Amos is currently an active angel & venture investor in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is passionate about technology, business and the entrepreneurial ecosystem as it relates to start-ups, venture capital and angel investing.  

Amos is a current and active member of Sand Hill Angels and   Silicon Catalyst Angels. Amos serves as a Board Officer at Sand  Hill Angels and a Board Director at Silicon Catalyst Angels. As an angel/venture investor, Amos looks to invest and work with  great founding teams that are harnessing cutting-edge technology  to deliver great products and services and that will result in  significant outcomes for all stakeholders.

Prior to Amos’s angel & venture investing career, he was involved  in six startups, either as an early employee or founder. Four of the  startups had successful outcomes and two failed. Amos has held  Director and VP Engineering positions during his entrepreneurial  career. During these roles, Amos built and managed large  engineering teams. This experience in the start-up world has  driven him to stay involved in the San Francisco Bay Area start-up  eco-system as an investor in start-ups and mentor to entrepreneurs.  In addition, Amos holds various board director, observer, and  advisor positions in companies where he is an active investor.

Since 2012, Amos’s startup investment portfolio has grown to  more than 350 portfolio companies.

Paul Pickering

Board Member

Paul Pickering has been a passionate advocate for emerging semiconductor and sensor technologies during the length of his 40-year career.  He has worked with an extensive array of technologies and has also been on the founding team of two semiconductor start-ups.  Paul is an active investor in the area of early-stage semiconductor and sensor technologies.  He currently serves as Managing Director of Microtech Ventures, and Managing Partner at Silicon Catalyst.  Both organizations have numerous angel investments.  He recently accepted a Board of Directors role at Silicon Catalyst Angels.  During his corporate career, he was an executive at two public companies that have subsequently been acquired.  From 2015 to 2019, he was the Chief Revenue Officer for Micralyne Inc. based in Edmonton Alberta, Canada.  In August 2019, Micralyne was acquired by Teledyne Technologies.  

Paul is a graduate of West Chester University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree and also attended Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania. He is a recognized speaker at technology conferences and trade events in the semiconductor and MEMS industries.

Tom Eby

Board Member

Prior to becoming an Advisor and Angel investor, Tom spent almost 40 years in the semiconductor industry, most recently at Micron Technology where he was GM of their largest and most profitable business, the Compute & Networking BU. Prior to Micron he ran BUs and also had senior executive roles in Strategy & Business Development and Sales & Marketing at Spansion and AMD. He has also served on the Boards of Directors of both private and public companies. Tom has a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Princeton University. He splits his time between San Francisco and London.

Laura Swan

Treasurer and VP of Business Operations

Laura Swan serves as Vice President, Operations at Silicon Catalyst Angels, and is a General Partner with Silicon Catalyst Ventures. She is an Investor with Sand Hill Angels as well as a Managing Partner at Silicon Catalyst.

Laura earned her Master Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wyoming (Go Pokes!).
